Can u do a step by step video on how to start a staffing agency? From the website to hiring ppl to get contracts with facilities…

I am a multi-state RN NY and Compact states. Left arm sleeve, Left leg sleeve, full back tat, 5/19 gauges(almost 3/4”). I’m about to go into my PeriOp 101 program to become an OR nurse. But my advice to RNs and future RNs is to be considerate/aware about what patients may think. Not everyone is ok with tats or gauges. It’s just reality. When I go to work I wear silicone for my gauges for them not to stand out, I also wear long sleeves as much as I can. And as a nurse u should expect that it’s a risk and u should be willing to take the negativity that might come your way. Some places might prefer others before u when hiring.

This was a damn good video. You laid it all out there no holds barred. As a brand new 50 year old male "older" nurse I feel like I can do well but am sure that I'll run into peers who think an older inexperienced nurse is going to be a problem for them. You can bet I'll be growing that thick skin from the get go because solid patient care and communication is my goal. Hopefully, some of these peers will come around after i can prove myself. I’ve worked Med Surg/Tele, PCU, ICU for a short time and now I’m doing home health for about 4 months for family reasons. Nursing 11 years thinking about ER to get back my 3 12s minus the same old in patient stuff. Trying to pick a direction. I guess I don’t know what I wanna be when I grow up 🙃

I graduated 1994 and worked in New Zealand till 2017, moving to Australia as a travel nurse since then and can testify that the level of toxicity you've described and the red flags that you outlined are unfortunately rampant in both countries in the healthcare system. The beauty of being a travel nurse means you only have to endure a toxic environment for a short time only, i highly recommend becoming a travel nurse or only go casual if its possible. Too many of our colleagues have suffered terribly, leaving the industry burnt out and completely dejected. Big hugs to you all and thank you so much for your video!!!

Yes grow a thick skin however a video advising experienced nurses on empathy & communication would be great! Second day on a brand new ward will NOT see the brilliant time management you demonstrated Placement & having it mentioned four times in a loud voice is just cruel. Especially when the Buddy is flapping around, not communicating Cares they're doing & treating you like a CRN.

I had my first clinical ansi had to knock to enter the room tell me why I stayed outside for 2 mins 😅 until my professor came and said let’s go together 😂 … the pt assign to me was so nice thank goodness

The nursing field needs overhauled. We need to move away from the ridiculous Florence Nightingale era. Nurses work too many hours to not get a break or lunch. It’s nonsense. We don’t get paid enough for the shit we tolerate.

School is too expensive and nurses, dr’s- the educational expenses cost too much and the doctor’s then charge for their student loans and time it took making nothing- healthcare is a business for profit and yet the nurses and people doing the daily care- do not receive the pay that warrants the time and cost of education and the wages lost during those years studying and not earning.

I had watched this post before, but I needed to hear this again. My job has no holidays or weekends but it’s an absolutely negative work environment that makes my work place aweful. I DO work with a covert narcissist and I did a double take when you mentioned that as one of the things in your experience, that may signal it’s time for an exit strategy.
